Surface Preparation:
Remove all loose paint and any crumbly, chalky or glossy material, wash off all dirt, grease, wax, and oil with a household detergent, rinse and allow to dry. Dull glossy surfaces. Any mold or mildew must be removed and the surface should be scrubbed with 1 oz. of heavy-duty cleaner, 1 qt. Bleach and 3 quarts warm water. Rinse thoroughly with water to remove all residue and allow to dry before applying Viela. All new surfaces should be prepared to a level 5 finish for sheetrock or equivalent for other substrates. All surfaces should be sealed with an appropriate regular or stain-blocking primer designed for subsequent latex paint coatings. Consult TM Pratt for appropriate primers.
Application:
The Viela finish is pre tinted and is designed to be applied in three or more separate coats using a stainless steel trowel. The customer may choose to apply a light wax coating after the final coat to add protection and add sheen. See separate details for compatible wax procedures. Stir thoroughly before and occasionally during application. Do not apply if temperature is below 50 ° F. Apply Viela using a stainless steel trowel being careful to work a 4'x8' section or smaller at a time. Repeat second and following coats using similar trowel techniques. Can be thinned with up to one cup of water per five-gallon container.
Spreading Rate:
On properly prepared interior surfaces up to 65 square feet per gallon. Depending on previous color, surface, porosity, and application methods, coverage can vary greatly.
Drying Time:
Dries to touch in 1 to 6 hours and can be recoated at that time. Drying times may vary depending on temperature, humidity and air movement.
Cleanup:
Clean hands, tools, and equipment promptly with warm soapy water . |
