RXM Pricing Guidelines

The RXM system is a multiple step acrylic coating that has pricing/cost characteristics that are similar to high quality acrylic coatings.

In terms of the materials, the RXM system for new construction consists of a background Eggshell coat followed by a foreground texture coat. Based on the current (late 2006 and GSA only best volume break) pricing for those coatings in a neutral color of $16.80 per gallon and $13.40 per gallon and coverage rates of 250 SF/gallon and 100 SF/gallon respectively the materials cost would be approximately $.20 per SF FOB Miami FL.

When renovating, you should budget adding the RXM Styrene acrylic primer which is $15.08 per gallon and applied at 600 SF/gallon. This would add $.025 to the cost so the new combined cost would be just under $.23 per SF. FOB Miami FL.

In terms of application cost, many factors will apply including whether the project requires union labor, the market locale and local labor rates, the size and complexity of the job, and the expected interaction of other trade functions on the efficiency and timing of completing the work. In many respects these are the same factors you would consider in estimating the cost of a paint only project. In general we have found that the cost of applying the RXM system in new construction is about 35% more expensive than paint alone. In the case of a renovation, the incremental cost of applying the RXM materials is frequently offset by a reduction in the cost of preparation of the underlying substrate. Actual details will depend on a case by case basis.

In almost all projects, we can give you a very accurate cost of the materials FOB your project site. We can also provide reasonable guidelines to the expected labor costs for installing the specified finish. We can also provide you with the names of certified contractors that work with the RXM finishes that can give you detailed quotations. If you have a preferred contractor we can arrange to train them on site at the start of the project.
