The Permitex
System
Finish Options
Permitex is available in a variety of finish options as
will be seen in the following pictures and physical samples.
Each sample is labeled on the reverse for your reference.
While we have included some common samples to illustrate the
range of choices with a Permitex finish, please remember that
the finish you receive is up to your specifications and your
conceptions of the project. The following are some common
finish options, which we have used to label the samples.
Texture Finish Options:
- Texture over Smooth: Indicates that the texture coat is
applied last and is in the foreground while the smooth coat
is in the background. Texture can be applied to produce
a lacy or standard pattern.
- Smooth over Texture: Indicates that the smooth coat is
applied last and totally covers the background texture coat
material.
- Raised Texture: Indicates a modified orange peal finish
where the texture coat is sprayed with a tighter aperture
and the material is not subsequently knocked down with a
trowel.
- Floated Texture: Indicates a heavy and thicker texture
coating where the texture finish covers 85 to 95% of the
background smooth coat material. Texture can be applied
to achieve a medium or full floated finish.
Finish Color Options:
With the smooth over texture finish, the user will usually
select a single color for both the foreground and the background
coats.
On all other finishes, the user can specify at a minimum
a foreground color and a background color, which can be the
same or can be different.
Additional Color Options:
With the Texture over Smooth Finish, Raised Finish, and Floated
Finish the user can select additional accent Texture colors.
This results in two or more texture colors applied over a
background Smooth coat color. The two Texture colors can be
applied equally or in various proportions. These samples will
be labeled either Two Tone or Accent Texture Color.
With the Texture over Smooth finish, the user can select
accent stipple colors, which results in a single Texture color
over one or more stipple colors, which are on top of the Smooth
Coat color in the background. Stipple colors are small dots
of material in any color, which are applied very sparsely
solely to add a hint of that color to the wall.
With the Texture over Smooth, Raised Finish, or Floated Texture
Finish the user can also select a muted stain to apply to
the texture finish. This often results in an old world type
of finish. These samples are labeled muted stain.
With the Floated Texture Finish the user can specify an additional
accent color. These samples are labeled pigment float.
Permitex can be applied with a variety of faux finish techniques
to achieve specific results. Please contact us for additional
details
Other Options:
- Clear Polyurethane: A treatment that creates depth, color
enhancement, and yields a soft gloss look along with a softer
feel. Stain resistance is also improved.
- Burnishing: If a smoother finish is desired, the texture
surface can be burnished. Burnishing can create color highlights
when the texture finish was stained.
